When I was a senior in high school, a college recruiter came to my school and asked me what I wanted to do with my life. I replied, “I want to help people with their money.” To which he replied, “You should become a financial advisor.”
I received a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, earned the appropriate licenses to practice as a financial advisor (Series 7 and 66 and Health, Life and Disability) and did so. But working as a financial advisor made me realize something: There are a lot of people who need help with today’s finances, not tomorrow’s. Financial advisors help you plan long-term, but what about the bill you just received in the mail today?
I started coaching friends and family on the side while working corporate accounting and discovered it was my passion. Eventually, I was spending every day after work and all day on Saturdays helping people set financial goals, get clear about their expenses and expenditures, and create realistic, livable budgets. I left corporate America to become a financial coach and haven’t looked back.
But why Fiscal Fitness?
When I started Fiscal Fitness, my husband was working in PT and we had plans to someday open our own fitness studio. We were doing CrossFit in our garage at the time and attending powerlifting competitions on the weekends. But the business soon because my full-time focus. My client load grew. My husband came on board. I had my daughter. I brought on more coaches. I adopted a son. My husband and I built so much and gave everything we had to our business and family. Our own personal health and wellness took a back seat for a while.
In 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, I was feeling in a rut and knew I wanted something better. After watching my fellow financial coach Jill Emanuel transform her body through a personal training and coaching program, I knew that’s what I wanted. I joined it too. I changed my health, my eating habits, my life as a whole through this program. I am so proud of the effort I have put in and continue to devote to my health and fitness.
I know the power of coaching, having it seen it first hand change the lives of my clients and myself. That’s why I want to help more fit pros and personal trainers handle the fiscal side of their lives and businesses so they can focus on the fitness part.
